Kvinnor inom vetenskapen
En vän länkade till en artikel på Facebook idag som jag tycker att alla skall ta del av. Den uppmärksammar några av de många otroligt viktiga kvinnor inom forskningen historiskt sett.
Jag blir alltid mest berörd när jag läser om de enastående kvinnor som snuvats på sina upptäckter och sina Nobelpris av män som tagit åt sig hela äran. Men som trots att de utnyttjats och inte fått den cred de borde fått ändå kämpat vidare.
Som Jocelyn Bell Burnell, vars handledare och kollega fick Nobelpriset för hennes upptäckt.
Eller Lise Meitner vars forskning och teorier presenterades av Otto Hahn, efter att Lise flytt Tyskland, utan att hennes namn nämndes och han fick Nobelpriset för detta.
While working as a postgrad, Jocelyn Bell Burnell observed radio pulsars for the first time. Despite being the first one to actually see them, she was passed over when the discovery was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1974. Instead, it went to her advisor and another colleague. Though many expressed outrage over Bell’s omission, she never expressed any disappointment on the matter publicly.
